Scientific Perspectives on the Individual

Dear All,

Some of the findings and theories of modern science, in particular quantum mechanics, question dramatically the traditional western view of the individual - as well as of reality.

    It was interesting learning the new modern perspective of the individual but I feel we did not cover the 'traditional' view of science at all so there is not much to compare it to. Not sure how we are meant to approach this critically.

    I have no idea to connect between scientific and CORE ==", but this topic is interesting:)because I have to do research about nanotechnology, I focus on chemistry about purification of water. I choose this topic because I guess the water that is so important, and everyone has to drink it. Nanotechnology is the good way to clean the water (Eco friendly:).

    The development of science in every aspect of life leads to significant changes in Individual's perspective. I have read some materials about scientific research in life after death. Because of that, I'm now getting more believe in the exist of souls, and human appearance under other non-physical kinds. The advantage of new technology can definitely change people's perspective in several phenomenon of life.

      Yes, quantum physics has certainly the potential to change people's perspectives on almost everything. You can call it a shift in paradigm. We will talk a bit more about this tomorrow.

    I like the concept of using quantum physics to change a person perspective on life, and maybe help empower them to take control over their circumstances. The movie What the Bleep Do We know is good. I have read that a few of the experiments shown in the film as evidence is based pesudo-sciance and can not be proven empirically.
    The other quantum physics movie I really did not like was
    The Secret,the focus on gaining material wealth and losing weight was a huge turnoff the producers were completely missing the point.

    The physic body is shaped by 70% of water, which in many esoteric schools means emotion, which is the same that energy in movement.

    ¾ parts of our body are water and also we live in a planet made of 70% of water. Whereby and according with this kind of environment, we came to this world to work with our emotions. This is our priority

    In the new century of innovation and scientific research, more and more aspects of life have been properly explained. We have been opened our minds with new concepts and start to learn more truths and lessen doubts. Several scientific perspectives on self should include the theory about life after death; cause and effect; the parallel universes.... The more we understand the world surrounding us, the more we start understand ourself and the existence of ourself in this universe.

    Using science to comprehend human behavior is an interesting phenomenon. The movie 'What the Bleep Do We Know' is based on the notion that the principles of quantum physics plays a major role in the human mind and also for the understanding of the very nature of the universe. The general idea of this movie (with the basics of quantum physics backing it) is that there isn't one reality, but a number of possibilites and one just has to be enlightened to it's awareness and then you can make whatever you want happen. Even though this is an intriguing concept, I am not completely convinced with the opinion of universe is only about 'you' and everything in your life is a product of our mind and imagination.

    A century ago, our understanding of the physical world is empirical; 20th century, quantum mechanics provides us with a material and field theory, it changed our world; Looking forward to the 21st century, quantum mechanics will continue provides all basic scientific concepts and important tool. We make such a confident prediction because quantum mechanics provides accurate complete theory for the world around us. However, today's physics have a lot of things in common with the 1900s' physics: it still retains the basic empirical. We can not completely predict the properties of the constituent materials of the basic elements and we still need to measure them.
